Hello! My name is William Walter, but everyone calls me Bill. I am an instructional and graphic designer working in Buffalo, New York. I hold a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design Technology from UMASS Boston where I am currently pursuing a Masters’s Degree in that program. My previous educational credits include an Associate’s Degree in Graphics Arts/Printing from Erie Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from SUNY College at Buffalo. After graduation, I returned to college to complete several pedological courses in Career and Technical Education, which enabled me to acquire a license to teach high school in New York State. 

For the past 30 years, I have honed my skills as a graphic designer in the creative departments of many of Buffalo’s top advertising agencies, developing marketing graphics for clients such as Fisher-Price, HSBC Bank, Dunlop Tire, and Kohler’s kitchen and bath division. Along this journey, I have developed extensive knowledge in design principles and production techniques, which apply to both traditional print and digital media. 

About four years ago, I had the opportunity to return to my old alma mata, Erie Community College, and teach a graphic design class to first-year students in the Graphic Arts/Printing program. I had some background in education, so I figured, why not? This might be fun. I absolutely fell in love with teaching and decided to explore a second career in education. At about that same time, I became aware of Instructional Design. I discovered that developing online educational materials offered a great way to dovetail my passion for graphic design with my newfound interest in education. Along with still designing compelling marketing graphics, I also use my design and production skills to develop e-learning programs that enhance students’ learning experiences.

On my personal side, I am an avid Skier, mainly because when you live in a place that averages over 100 inches of snow each winter, you either learn to enjoy it or sit in the house and watch Netflix for 4-5 months. I also have a collection of mid-century modern chairs.
